Oldham, UK – The Jammu Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International (JKSDMI), under the leadership of Founding Chairman Raja Najabat Hussain Sitara-i-Pakistan, successfully hosted a Kashmir Solidarity Conference in Oldham. The event brought together key political figures, parliamentarians, and community leaders to reaffirm their commitment to the self-determination of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).

Several high-profile figures delivered speeches during the conference, highlighting the importance of international advocacy, diplomatic engagement, and grassroots mobilisation to raise awareness of human rights violations in Kashmir. The main speakers included:
1. Councillor Yasmine Dar, Honorary Lord Mayor of Manchester and Chairperson of the International Lobby on Kashmir, who emphasised the need for sustained international pressure on India to respect human rights and UN resolutions on Kashmir.
2. Councillor Rukhsana Ismail, Deputy Mayor of Rotherham, who reaffirmed the support of local British leaders in pushing for political action on Kashmir.
3. Raja Mohammad Arif Khan, Former Mayor of Blackburn, who spoke about the historical struggle of Kashmiris and the need for continuous global lobbying.
4. Councillor Mohammad Ayoub, Former Mayor of Bolton, who urged the UK government to take a stronger stance on the Kashmir issue in parliamentary debates and diplomatic talks.
5. Shadab Qamar, Former Mayor of Oldham, who highlighted the role of the British Kashmiri community in keeping the issue alive on the political agenda.
6. Debbie Abrahams MP, Chairperson of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Palestine and Deputy Chairperson of APPG on Kashmir, who assured her continued advocacy for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
7. Lord Shaffaq Mohammad, Member of the House of Lords (Liberal Democrats), who reiterated the importance of parliamentary interventions to ensure that human rights abuses in Kashmir are addressed at the highest levels.
8. Harry Boota, Administration Director of JKSDMI, who spoke on the organisation’s efforts in mobilising support across communities and strengthening political lobbying efforts.

During the event, JKSDMI Chairman Raja Najabat Hussain announced the official launch of Kashmir Solidarity Week, which will be observed nationwide in the UK from now until February 11, 2025. The initiative aims to:
• Raise awareness of human rights violations in Kashmir.
• Engage British parliamentarians to push for meaningful action.
• Mobilise communities across cities, including key events in the British Parliament.
