MIRPUR ( AJK): January 23: Azad Jummu Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said that India was flouting international laws and norms of justice in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir State.
Barrister Sultan was talking to former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Yaqub Khan who called on him at the Jammu Kashmir House in the federal metropolis on Thursday.
During the meeting, both the leaders discussed issues of mutual concern including prevailing political and human rights situation in Indian Illegally occupied Jammu Kashmir State (IIoJK) and socio economic development of AJK.
Referring to massive military presence in the restive region, the AJK President said that nine lakh Indian troops deployed in length and breadth of the disputed territory has turned occupied Kashmir into an open air prison where people have been deprived of their fundamental freedoms and rights.
He said that despite using all means of oppression the Indian state has miserably failed to suppress the Kashmiris’ just struggle for right to self determination.
He said that it was high time that the international community, particularly the United Nations should take notice of Indian brutalities and help resolve the longstanding dispute in line with wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people
Denouncing India’s relentless repression in the IIoJK, both of the leaders urged the international community to hold India accountable for its illegal actions and crimes committed by its forces against innocent Kashmiris.
